The Burgentine archive center
The project aims to create a centralized location for all the archives of the village. In addition to the Municipal Archive and the Parish Archive—one of the most significant in the region—Brienza also houses the Giampietro Archive. The Giampietro family played an important role in the village's history, including two friars who painted frescoes in the City Council Palace, which was once the Convent of the Minor Observant Friars. Notable members of this family include Luigi Giampietro, a Senator of the Realm, and Domenico Pellegrini, who served as the Minister of Finance for the Republic of Salò.
The project primarily aims to reorganize the archives through precise cataloging of the documents.
We are attempting to replicate the documents from the Caracciolo Archive, which is housed in the National Archive in Naples, in Brienza.
A complete digitalization of documents from all four archives is expected to make their use free.
The final step is to create the real Polo, which involves establishing suitable venues for preserving the archives, complete with a study room.
