Our
Projects

The assembly annually establishes guidelines for the Association's activities and approves an Action Plan that outlines the interventions for the year.

In 2024, the Assembly approved several projects, including: the public presentation of the Association, the establishment of the Burgentino Archives Center, an exhibition of photos from the Giampietro Archives of Brienza, the creation of historical and naturalistic itineraries along the rural and urban streets of the town, a census of all existing stone artifacts in the territory of Brienza, the development of a Memory Archive, and research on the town's toponymy.

During the year, additional projects were initiated, such as the restoration of the seventeenth-century wooden frame of the Chapel of the Madonna degli Angeli, the publication of a catalogue for the exhibition "A Lucanian Photographer of the Late Nineteenth Century," and the presentation of this exhibition and catalogue in the garden of Palazzo Giampietro as well as at the headquarters of the Superintendency for Archival and Bibliographic Heritage of Basilicata.

Even prior to its official formation, Brienza 1799 fully financed the publication of the book "Senza Rumore" (Et Cetera Libri, 2023), a collection of poems by Adriano Cozza, a talented poet from Brienza who passed away prematurely.

A centre in which all the archival funds of the village are to be concentrated: Municipal Historical Archive, "Santa Maria Assunta" Parish Archive, Giampietro Archive, and Caracciolo Archive (digital reproduction of the fund of feudal lords of Brienza, kept at State Archive in Naples). A center will be established to consolidate all the archival collections of the village. This will include the Municipal Historical Archive, the "Santa Maria Assunta" Parish Archive, the Giampietro Archive, and the Caracciolo Archive, which features a digital reproduction of the feudal lords' records from Brienza, held at the State Archive in Naples.

The 17th-century wooden frame, formerly located in the "Madonna degli Angeli" Chapel and now preserved in the City Council Palace, required urgent restoration. Brienza1799 has fully funded this intervention, with support from private citizens and the "Brienza Restauri" company.

Professors Enzo V. Alliegro (anthropologist, University of Naples) and Massimo Bignardi (emeritus contemporary art historian at the University of Siena) addressed the audience, with moderation by Giovanni Ferrarese (historian, University of Salerno).
